Is Your Managed Service Provider Working For You

Is your managed service provider working for you and are you seeing results?

Many businesses rely on outsourcing some or all of their IT to managed service providers.

MSP security is at times found as separate and optional to businesses.

More then half of businesses see it as an essential part to their company with the ever growing ransom-ware attacks.

Ransom-ware is a huge concern with businesses small or large since the threat is attacking everyone.

Managed Service Provider

Why choose MSP?

Solid and predictable budgeting from MSPs helps with easy budget management with no surprises.

Access to a team. MSP companies are often staffed with multiple tiers of expertise.

This does allow the client to tap into resources that may not normally be available through a traditional structure.

Picking the right MSP can lead to lower costs because the MSP can charge less then the cost of just one individual.

Choosing the right MSP means, that is one less thing that an organization needs to deal with.

Really the goal of a good MSP is to let you focus on the company’s core operations.

Is Your Managed Service Provider Working For You

Ransom-ware protection is the top concern of customers both large and small.

54 percent of MSPs with enterprise customers claim this is their customers’ main concern.

In addition 49 percent of MSPs with smaller customers feel the need for security.

Now it’s not enough to simply have cyber security services in an MSPs portfolio.

Really all it takes is an incident such as Ransom-ware to infect and ruin a MSPs reputation.

MSPs face a number of challenges when it comes to investing in the expansion of their cyber security offers.

Customer Service Experience Starts With You First

Customer Service Experience Starts With You First

Customer service experience starts with you first can seem cliche and simple enough right?

Well it is no surprise that just 1 or 2 bad experiences with a customer can lead in disaster.

If things are not handled in a professional way you can be left looking for a new client.

But we all know that if one customer gets an exceptional experience they will be back for more.

How is that possible? How can our customer service be so good that it merits a referral?

Customer Service Employee Empowerment

The first step toward employee empowerment is engagement and make it your mission.

Make your mission a part of everything your organization does.

Structure your team so employees can work independently to solve customer problems and think creatively.

Measure qualitative and quantitative feedback, and not just how many cases or tickets they resolve in a given day.

Drive Technology To Work For You

At times words cannot always work over the phone or in person.

So using tools like screenshots, GIFs, and videos can make a process move quicker then the normal.

When it comes to communicating technical concepts or processes, videos are the best if possible.

Videos and pictures don’t need to be fancy to work and at times can be easier then a long drawn out conversation.

Customer Service Experience Starts With You First

Since customer service starts with you give your clients options the first time you interact with them.

Whether this means creating interactive quizzes, offering free demos or trials and backup products.

Ask customers how they like to be contacted, and provide service in the mode that works best for them.

Finally time spent away from the queue isn’t time wasted because you’re dedicating time during your week to identifying patterns, analyzing data, and creating processes to work more efficiently is time spent wisely.

What Happens When An Email Shows Up In The Wrong Recipient

What Happens When An Email Shows Up In The Wrong Recipient

What happens when an email shows up in the wrong recipient and what are the dangers?

Financial emails containing sensitive information and attached files definitely shouldn’t land in the wrong inbox.

These types of mistakes are usually made by someone omitting a character, making a typo, or mixing up domain names and extensions.

Typically you get a “hey, you sent this to the wrong person”, but what if nothing happens?

You’ve now presumed that the email went to the right person and things are okay.

Well a quick search reveals that this issue comes up in the news on a larger scale with some frequency.

News reported a company sending out termination emails to 1,300 employees but was only meant for 1.

Data Breach

Reported data breaches in Canada in the first six months of the year hit 59 and that’s only the beginning.

Risk Based Security Report

Seeing over 1 million exposed records out of Canada can be disheartening and a time for action.

What Happens When An Email Shows Up In The Wrong Recipient

A data breach thanks to a simple typo. In theory, should be easy enough to avoid.

Taking precautions is a good step to not losing data like encryption.

Encrypt everything that’s outgoing that way even if the email does end up in the wrong hands, there’s not much the recipient can do with it.

Robust data and email policies to filter and/or block confidential information is always a good idea.

Simple step of adding an email verification step to a sign-up process would do much to reduce misdirected emails.

How Is Your OneDrive Or Office 365 Giving You Full Data Backup

How Is Your OneDrive Or Office 365 Giving You Full Data Backup

How is your OneDrive or Office 365 giving you full data backup and Is it important to you?

I’d hope so because your work could be going out the window at any point and you wouldn’t know it.

Understanding Microsoft’s backup and retention policies can be difficult, therefore let’s try to break it down.

Policies

Data loss is often a major concern and destructive for Office 365 customers, how so?

Well Microsoft’s backup policies cannot guarantee a complete and speedy restore of lost data.

Even when data is retrievable, the process is long and therefore complicated.

Retention policies and processes vary for each application included in the cloud platform.

OneDrive

Collaboration can be put in jeopardy due to user error, hacking, sync issues, and possible malicious insiders cause data loss.

OneDrive only stores the most recent version of your content and not the entire history.

There is no way to access previous drafts therefore data is now lost, should you need your drafts.

The recycle bin within OneDrive has a default retention period of 90 days consequently files after that cannot be restored.

How Is Your OneDrive Or Office 365 Giving You Full Data Backup

Microsoft MVP Brien Posey said. “The sad truth is that you might not have as many options for restoring your data as you might think”.

It is critically important to understand your options and disaster recovery in your Office 365 environment.

Item level recovery protects an organization against deleting items such as messages and mailboxes.

The recovery of a corrupt mailbox and provision for reverting a mailbox server to an earlier point is not possible.

Give another thought to how important your data is to you because you could be losing it as you read this.

New Petya Ransomware Is Out And Potentially Worse Then WannaCry

New Petya Ransomware Is Out And Potentially Worse Then WannaCry

New Petya Ransomware is out and potentially worse then WannaCry Ransomware. What can you do about it?

BlackBox Connections has found out that there are new variations of the Petya Ransomware out and about.

Also another Ransomware going by the name of GoldenEye and PetrWrap is behind the massive outbreak across the globe.

What makes the new threat different is that it now includes the EternalBlue exploit as a way to propagate inside a targeted network.

The exploit attacks the Windows Server Message Block service.

Petya also attempts to spread internally by breaking admin passwords and infecting other PCs on the network.

It does so by running credential-stealing codes to break user account passwords and deploy Ransomware into your systems.

What You Have To Do

Ensure systems have the latest patches, including the one in Microsoft’s MS17-010 bulletin.

Consider blocking the Microsoft PsExec tool from running on users’ computers.

Back up regularly and keep a recent backup copy off-site because there are dozens of ways other than Ransomware you can lose data.

Avoid opening attachments in emails from recipients you don’t know and even if you work in HR . Resist the urge!

New Petya Ransomware Is Out And Potentially Worse Then WannaCry

PetyaWrap is a 3 combo hitter and patching for the WannaCry Ransomware just isn’t enough.

If the WannaCry Virus is closed PetyaWrap just tries another route and the network is at a huge disadvantage.

At the end of the day do you want to take the risk of losing your files and have to pay a Ransom for your data back?

Truth be told multiple industries have announced they have yet to see their data back after paying the Ransom.
